ICYMI: Welfare Budget is the Single Largest Budget Item
Here is a link to the new report from the Congressional Research Service showing that federal welfare is now the single largest budget item. And here is a committee background document examining the $1.03 trillion spent on federal welfare in FY11 and the administration's controversial promotions to expand enrollment. In related news, today is the deadline for Vilsack to respond to the oversight letter about the administration's officially-recognized partnership with Mexico to expand food stamp enrollment among foreign nationals.
