The time for weeping is past. It is time to get serious about the root of our problems! Dutch Protestant theologian and statesman Abraham Kuyper (1837-1920) said:

"When principles that run against your deepest convictions begin to win the day, then battle is your calling, and peace has become sin; you must, at the price of dearest peace, lay your convictions bare before friend and enemy, with all the fire of your faith."

Jan. 16 - Annual Consent of the Governed Rally date set

Consent of the Governed Rally on Wed., Jan 16 around 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in Jefferson City in the Rotunda.

Prof. Tom Woods has agreed to be the featured speaker this year.  The theme will be geared to Economic Freedom, a concept that includes virtually all the issues we care about, from sovereignty, to our tax system, to sound money, to health-care freedom, to sound money, ect.

Both the House and Senate majorities have announced legislative agenda which focus heavily on economic issues.   The senate is calling their program "B.I.G." -- I see our job as that of making sure B.I.G. doesn't end up resulting in Big Intrusive Government!

Please mark you calendars for Jan. 16th and pass the word.

I know that the coordinator is looking for volunteers and organization co-sponsors. Contact:

Federal Judge blocks Missouri birth control law

Keep an eye out for Judge Fleissigs "restraining order" against Missouri for our efforts to block Obamacare's birth control mandate.

Learn more at a new blog I found called Missouri Tenth: http://missouritenth.com/2012/12/23/december-23-federal-judge-blocks-missouri-liberty/).

Basically Federal Judge Fleissings has utilized Federal Power to block the new Missouri law requiring insurers to offer policies that exclude Obamacare's birth control coverage. How disappointing!

Please contact Judge Fleissig and let her know that unconstitutional Federal actions will not be supported in Missouri! Address: 111 S. 10th Street, Suite 12.182, St. Louis, Missouri, 63102 Phone: 314-244-7420

Gun-related violent crimes drop as sales soar in VA

"While there is a wealth of academic literature attempting to demonstrate the relationship between guns and crime, a very simple and intuitive demonstration of the numbers seems to point away from the premise that more guns leads to more crime, at least in Virginia," says Virginia Commonwealth University professor Thomas R. Baker. While the total number of firearms purchased in Virginia increased 73 percent from 2006 to 2011, the total number of gun-related violent crimes fell 24 percent over that period. When adjusted for population, gun-related offenses dropped more than 27 percent, from 79 crimes per 100,000 in 2006 to 57 crimes in 2011.

Employment Freedom Rally Jan 9th

A meeting with Speaker of the Missouri House Tim Jones is for Wednesday January 9th at 10am to support Employment Freedom aka RTW.
If you feel strongly about Employment Freedom, as I do, you know that it takes a lot of people to show up  to get a law like Employment Freedom to go anywhere at the Capitol.

The meeting is in Jefferson City at the Capitol in the 'House Lounge' (the room with all the Thomas Hart Benton murals) right next to the Speakers office (3rd floor).  Meet outside the House Lounge at 9:45am.
This is also Opening Day/First day of session and the Capitol has tours going on all day as well as legislators being sworn in.
Soon after the meeting with the Speaker, the conservative group  Americans For Prosperity will be also having their "Legislative Agenda and Torchbearer Rally"  this will be held in hearing room 1. Special guest will be radio host Jamie Allman.

This is how we make a difference! we need as many supporters as we can get for Right to Work to this Meeting with the Speaker.

Fwd: Filibuster reform!

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has ruled the U.S. Senate with an iron fist since Democrats took the Senate majority after the 2006 election.  He obstructed almost all of then-President George W. Bush's nominees by refusing to schedule confirmation votes even for non-controversial nominees to important positions.  He has consistently used his power as Majority Leader to entirely shut Republicans out of the legislating process, and he now has the audacity to claim that Republicans are obstructing the legislative process.  He is now seeking to take away the filibuster, which is currently the Minority party's only check on Majoritarian rule.

We need you to tell the truth about what Harry Reid is doing, and to call your Senators and tell them to oppose Reid's unprecedented power grab!

What Harry Reid Is Actually Doing

Few people have time to watch Senate proceedings on C-SPAN every day, and the mainstream media will not cover stories that jeopardize Reid's liberal agenda.  So, not only has Harry Reid has been getting away with tyranny, but he's getting away with claiming that it's the Republican Minority that is being unreasonable.  Here's how he does it:

The Senate Majority Leader's power comes from his ability to be recognized on the Senate floor before anyone else.  So, when he brings a bill to the Senate floor, he uses procedural tricks to shut out minority amendments and debates by:

"Filling the Tree"

Senate rules limit the number of amendments that can be added to bills.  So Reid uses his power of recognition to fill the amendment slots, usually with inconsequential amendments like changing commas, changing section numbers or names, etc., thus, keeping the Minority party from offering amendments.

Selectively Adding Republican Amendments

While "filling the amendment tree," Reid will often throw in a few Republican amendments that are non-controversial and do not interfere with his agenda.  That enables him to say he included the Minority in the process, while keeping them from offering any amendments they actually want.

Same-Day Cloture Motions

After bringing a bill to the floor and "filling the tree," Reid will frequently file a Cloture motion, which is a motion to end debate. Senate Rules allow a Senator to speak as long as he or she desires and on any subject he or she desires unless 3/5 of the Senate votes to "invoke Cloture" to end the debate.  "Filibuster" or prolonging debate to stall or block the passage of legislation can be a powerful tool for the Minority party.  Reid consistently invokes Cloture almost simultaneously with bringing the bill to the floor, setting up the fiction that Republicans are filibustering, when in reality, they haven't even had the chance to start debating.  Liberals then criticize Republicans for voting against Cloture motions, claiming they are obstructing Senate business, when in truth, they are simply voting to protect their right to properly consider matters before voting on them.

Harry Reid created the fiction that Republicans are abusing the filibuster so he can justify getting rid of it, and calling it "reform."  We must not let him get away with it.

Reid Must Break Senate Rules to Change Them

There is one more twist. In order for Reid to amend Senate Rules to limit the filibuster, he will have to break Senate Rules.  Unlike the House of Representatives, which changes every two years, the Senate is a continuing body, the members have staggered terms, so rules stay consistent from one session to the next.  Reid wants to discard the notion that the Senate is a continuing body and change Senate rules to require only a simple majority to end a filibuster.

We are all frustrated with the radical nominees and legislation Obama, Reid and Pelosi have been able pass, but without the filibuster, we could not have stopped legislation like "Card Check" and "Cap and Trade," and could not have stopped some of President Obama's most radical nominees.

Take Action!

Please share this information with as many people as you can.  It is up to us to set the record straight about what Reid is really doing.  We need everyone to call their Senators and demand that they stop Harry Reid's power grab disguised as "reform."  Tell your Senators to oppose all changes to Senate rules.

Capitol Switchboard: 202-224-3121

Note:  Although this is a partisan issue, even some liberal Senators are concerned about exercising this option, particularly senior Senators who have served while their party was in the Minority.  If the rule is changed liberals will have to live under it just like conservatives when the power shifts.

Ethics Case Progresses Against Two Kansas Officials that Bungled Planned Parenthood Criminal Case

[Important KS news from Operation Rescue.  -K-Tip Staff]
  • December 12, 2012

Topeka, Kansas – Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt and Johnson County District Attorney Steve Howe remain under an active and progressing investigation for ethics violations alleged in complaints filed by an Operation Rescue staff member.

The Attorney General's office has supplied answers to the complaint of ethical misconduct for both Schmidt and Howe that were identical and included gross misrepresentations of the most important allegations against them.

Cheryl Sullenger of Operation Rescue, who filed the complaints, is scheduled to be interviewed on December 14, 2012, by investigators appointed by the state to delve into this complex case where there seem to be more questions than answers.

At issue is the handling of a criminal case against Comprehensive Health of Planned Parenthood, which was charged with 107 criminal counts related to illegal late-term abortions and manufacturing evidence to cover their crimes. That case was filed by Phill Kline, who served in both offices now occupied by Schmidt and Howe.

Operation Rescue alleges that Schmidt and Howe committed ethical misconduct during the case, which involved a mysterious shredding of evidence that was in the custody of the Attorney General's office and the misrepresentation in court and in a public press release that all copies of certain evidence against Planned Parenthood had been destroyed or were incomplete. That evidence consisted of Termination of Pregnancy (TOP) forms that showed Planned Parenthood forged documents after it came to the attention of a court officer that the TOP forms were illegally missing from patient files.

Sullenger received documentation from Judge Richard Anderson that pristine copies of the records in fact existed and were placed under seal in the Shawnee County Courthouse after Howe told a judge that no complete copies were left.

"We stand on our assertion that the public was betrayed by Schmidt and Howe. No one has ever fully answered the questions concerning the destruction of evidence that supported Planned Parenthood's document manufacturing scheme," said Sullenger.

"Schmidt and Howe, who both purport to be pro-life Republicans, concocted a confusing and often contradictory story that never was supported by hard evidence. It is a sad fact that we have seen greater cooperation in prosecuting abortion crimes elsewhere from prosecutors that are avidly pro-choice. We welcome this investigation and hope it discovers the truth about why, in spite of three probable cause findings by three different judges, that Planned Parenthood was shielded from prosecution on 107 serious crimes."
